As usual, the worker entered the construction site to begin his familiar task. The noise of machinery, the dust, and the smell of cement had become a part of his daily life. But today, amidst those familiar sounds, he suddenly heard a very small, faint sound, like a cry for help.
Sensing something was wrong, he stopped working and went around to investigate. After a while, he was shocked to discover a small bird trapped in the cement pit. Its tiny body was slowly sinking, its wings heavy with cement. The bird let out a weak cry, no longer struggling, perhaps exhausted after its futile attempts to escape.
Without hesitation, the worker quickly lay down on the ground, stretching his arm to the edge of the pit. With utmost care, he reached the bird and gently lifted it out of the cement pit. Time was of the essence at that moment. He quickly took the bird to a cool tap, washing away the cement clinging to its body, because any delay would cause the cement to harden and potentially take its life.
After cleaning, he immediately took the bird to the nearest veterinary hospital. Doctors examined it and diagnosed it with a broken wing, requiring rest, bandaging, and careful treatment. From then on, the bird received meticulous care: daily physical therapy, adequate food, and a scientifically sound rest regimen.
Time quietly passed. Day by day, the bird gradually recovered. Its once weak wings could now flap strongly. One day, it spread its wings and soared into the sky, circling in the sunlight. The worker watched, his heart filled with joy. He played with the bird, treating it as a special friend that the dusty construction site had given him.
Then the day of parting arrived. The worker knew the bird had to return to its family, to the vastness of nature. Though reluctant, he personally released the bird into the sky. The bird flew away slowly, turning its head back as a final farewell, then gradually disappeared behind the green trees.
He stood silently, a pang of sadness in his heart at having to part with his little friend. But deep down, he felt warmth and happiness, because he knew he had done something meaningful: saving a life and helping it return to where it belonged. 💙
